Newsletter Wednesday August 26th 2026
· We hope everyone had a nice relaxing summer and managed to take advantage of some of the fabulous weather.
· As you have probably noticed the outside of the school was painted over the summer and we had some repair work done to part of the roof.
· We will reopen our school this Wednesday August 26th for all children. Buses are to run as normal.
· Parents from Junior Infants will be permitted to accompany their child to the classroom for the first three days of their schooling. We would ask that from Monday next August 31st that those parents drop their child at the outside door where the class teacher will meet them and bring the children into their classroom.
· Parents from Senior Infants can also bring their children to the outside door of their classroom.
· Parents from Solas can bring their children around by the Senior Infants entrance and they will be met there by a staff member or SNA.
· Children from all other classes will walk around the St. Kevin’s side of the school each morning where they will line up on the yard when the bell goes. We would ask that no parents go to the back of the school in the mornings.
· We have 27 Junior Infants starting and a number of other children who will be new to the school so we hope they all settle in easily and are made very welcome in our school. We would like to welcome some new staff members to our school. Jacqueline McGrail and Emma Keogh join our SNA team and Lauren Doyle will be working in SET until Éilise Dunne returns. We would also like to welcome Kerri O Neill as our new cleaner.
· We would encourage older children to walk, cycle or scoot to school. Children should bring a light rain jacket to school every day as we will make every effort to go out at breaks regardless of weather conditions.
· Can we remind all parents about the importance of having their child in school each day unless they are sick? Once a child is absent for 20 days we are obliged to notify TUSLA who may follow up on the absences. It is also extremely important that children are in school at 9 o’ clock as being late means they miss out on vital morning activities.
· Uniforms should be worn each day except for PE days. Your child will be informed of their PE day in due course. Uniforms can be bought from Keadeen Knitwear, Baltinglass or from Kidstuff, Courtyard Shopping Centre, Newbridge. We are in the process of changing our uniform, children will be able to continue to wear the old uniform from last year or the new uniform.
· School lunches will be available for all children from Senior Infants to 6th via the Fresh Today app. Lunches will be available for Junior Infants when they start their full day on Monday September 14th. Codes to allow access for Junior Infant parents to the Fresh Today app will be sent home this week. If your child is going to be absent or does not wish to receive the hot lunch could you please cancel the lunch via the app?
· Please make sure that your child’s property is clearly labelled with their name in particular jumpers, jackets and tracksuit tops.
· All school payments must be paid online or in an envelope with the child’s name written on the outside and an indication of what the fees are covering also written on the outside of the envelope. Receipts will be issued for all payments. Online payments can be made at the following BIC and IBAN. Please reference your child’s name if you are paying by this method.

We are currently working with Aladdin connect to organise a system where payments can be made through Aladdin. We will let you know when this has been enabled.
· Junior Infants will go home at 12 noon each day from Wednesday 26th August until Friday September 11th. From Monday September 14th they will go home at 1:40pm. Senior Infants will finish at 1:40pm with all other classes finishing at 2:40pm. We start school at 9am.
