NEWSLETTER – Monday 16th February 2026
· Reminder that Saturday Feb 28th is the closing date for acceptance letters for Junior Infants, Solas and other classes
· Reminder that the school will be closed for mid-term break on Thursday February 19th and Friday February 20th.
· We had a visit from two inspectors from the Department of Education last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They observed teaching and learning, spoke to teachers, children, parents representatives and members of the Board of Management. They will return next Monday evening to give oral feedback to the staff. A report will be published in due course. They were very complimentary of our school, of the teachers, children and entire school community.
· Boy’s Gaelic training will take place each Tuesday after school for boys in 4/5/6 classes. It will end at 3.45 each Tuesday.
· Hurling training takes place each Wednesday with Mr. Byrne.
· We would like to remind the school community that children are not allowed to bring or have mobile phones/devices in school for any reason.
· We will have representatives from Accord with us on 24th February to speak to 5th and 6th classes and 4th class girls in relation to relationships and sexuality. Notes and consent forms in relation to this have been sent home and should be returned by Wednesday February 18th.
· World book day is on 5th March. All children will receive vouchers towards the purchase of a book.
· The Parents’ Association are holding a table quiz in The Fox and the Bunditch on Thursday March 5th at 8pm. A table of 4 costs €40 and can be booked through the school office. If anyone would like to donate spot/raffle prizes they would be very welcome.
· All classes will be completing Relationship and Sexuality lessons relevant to their age group over the coming few weeks.
· Children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes will complete NNRIT tests (Non reading Intelligence tests) the first week in March.
