NEWSLETTER – Monday 2nd February 2026
· Parent Teacher meetings take place this Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th of February for Junior Infants and 2nd class. Time slots are limited to 10 mins to allow time for all parents. If you need to follow up with the teacher an appointment can be made at a later date.
· The Board of Management will meet on Tuesday February 10th at 8.30pm.
· We had David Ryan RSA with us on Friday to talk to children from Junior Infants to 2nd about Road Safety. He will be back on Tuesday 3rd to talk to children from 3rd – 6th.
· We had a visit from Dunlavin Fire-brigade on Friday. They spoke to 3rd class and showed the fire engine to the children in the younger classes. Huge thanks to all the firemen involved.
· School charges are now overdue from some families. We would appreciate payment or contact regarding these outstanding amounts.
· We are closed for mid-term break on Thursday and Friday February 19th and 20th.
· The closing date for acceptance for applications for Junior Infants and Solas was February 1st. Letters will be sent the day after the Board of Management meeting offering places for Junior Infants/Solas for the coming year 25/26. Please complete the relevant forms which will accompany the letters along with a birth cert and return to the school before the end of February.
· We will have an U11 and U13 team travelling to Scoil Naomh Íosaf, Baltinglass on Friday 6th February to take part in the Credit Union Quiz. Best of luck to them.
· We have been notified of a WSE MLL inspection in Scoil Niocláis Naofa on February 9th, 10th and 11th. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to show how lucky we are to have a fantastic school community. We look forward to welcoming two inspectors from the Department of Education to our school for three days. During that time they will speak to the Principal, members of the Board of Management, Parents Representatives, children and teachers. They will observe teaching in the classrooms and support rooms. Following the inspection a report will be issued in due course. In preparation for the inspection, parents will be asked to fill out a survey online. Details of this will be sent home by email on Tuesday. The survey has to be completed before 5pm on Monday 9th February. Teachers will also fill out surveys as will the children in school. Some children will be asked to speak to the inspectors in small focus groups and consent forms will be sent home this week in relation to this.
· The Parents Association meet this Tuesday Feb 3rd at 8pm.
· The order deadline from Co. Photos for those that were photographed on the second visit is Thursday February 5th. The portal to order photos for free delivery is shop.countyphotos.ie
· The hot school meals scheme begins on Tuesday, February 3rd. Children will receive their hot lunch at approximately 12.30. Each child will be given a Sistema lunch box to bring home any uneaten food. Please remember to send in the lunchbox each day with your child. They will also be given a bottle for water. The children will still need a small snack for the mid-morning break.
