NEWSLETTER – Monday 9th February 2026

· Following on from the children’s talk on road safety with David Ryan from RSA we are appealing to parents to respect the parking zones, bus and drop zones outside the school. Parents should not use the bus parking zone to drop children in the mornings between 8.45am-9.15am or to pick up in the evening. Please be careful at the zebra crossing as not all motorists respect that crossing.

· Reminder that school will be closed for mid-term break on Thursday and Friday Feb 19th and 20th.

· We would like to remind all parents that the school and its grounds are a strictly no smoking/vaping area.

· Letters with offers for Junior Infants and other school places for the coming year will be posted this Wednesday. Acceptance notes must be returned by February 28th.

· The Credit Union quiz which was supposed to take place last Friday was postponed due to bad weather. It will now take place in Scoil Naomh Íosaf Baltinglass this Thursday February 12th at 6.30pm.If any children that were due to be on teams cannot attend please let us know by this Monday evening Feb 10th.

· We would like to appeal to all parents to make sure their children arrive for school on time each morning. School starts at 9am for all classes. If a child is absent for any reason a note should be given to their class teacher so this can be recorded on our attendance system. Once a child is absent for 20 days we are obliged to make a referral to the TESS which is run by Túsla. When a child reaches 20 days parents will be notified.

· We welcome two inspectors from the Department of Education for a WSE MLL inspection in Scoil Niocláis Naofa on February 9th, 10th and 11th. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to show how lucky we are to have a fantastic school community. During that time they will speak to the Principal, members of the Board of Management, Parents Representatives, children and teachers. They will observe teaching in the classrooms and support rooms. Following the inspection a report will be issued in due course. In preparation for the inspection, parents have been asked to fill out a survey online. This can be accessed from the link below. The survey has to be completed before 5pm on Monday 9th February. Teachers will also fill out surveys as will the children in school. Some children will be asked to speak to the inspectors in small focus groups.
