Newsletter September 7th 2026

· Our Junior Infants have settled in very well and will continue to go home at 12.00 until Friday. From Monday next September 14th they will go home at 1.40.

· If you are not receiving emails or have moved house or changed email or phone nummber since last year, could you please contact the school office at 045-401495 to update your details

· As children have now settled well back into school we would ask that all parents remain at the front of the school and not enter classrooms. If for any reason you need to contact the class teacher, please do so by contacting the school office on 045-401495 or at snndunlavin@gmail.com.

· We would like to remind parents that birthday invitations are not permitted to be distributed in school. We would also kindly ask that birthday cakes are not sent into class if it is your child’s birthday. While it is a lovely thing to do, unfortunately some children in our school suffer from various allergies and we cannot guarantee that a child will not be allergic to some ingredients.

· County Photos will be in the school on Friday 25th September to photograph the children. Proofs of the photos will be distributed to each family who can then decide if they want to purchase them.

· Please note that parent teacher meetings for children from Senior Infants – 6th will take place on the 25th and 26th of November. Junior Infant meetings will take place on the 3rd and 4th of February.

· We would ask all children to have a coat with them as they will be going out at breaktimes unless the rain is very heavy. We would also ask that any children that want to play football from 1st – 6th, bring a change of shoes and change of trousers/tracksuit bottoms with them from now on as ground will be getting mucky. Reminder also to please put your child’s name on all clothing. We have already had some new jumpers lost and they can’t be found as there are no names on them.

· Basketball lessons and drama lessons are starting this week for some classes. The cost of these lessons is included in the school charges. These must be paid for before lessons commence. A note will be sent to any child who still has to pay for these lessons before Wednesday.

· All school charges must be paid online or in an envelope with the child’s name written on the outside and an indication of what the charges are covering also written on the outside of the envelope. Receipts will be issued for all payments. Payment can also be made online at the following BIC and IBAN. Please reference your child’s name if you are paying by this method.

BIC AIBKIE2D

IBAN: IE56 AIBK 933244 65921015

We are finalising the option to pay through the Aladdin app. We will finish collecting all school charges for this year by bank transfer or by envelope and the option to pay by app will be available for all other payments throughout the year for trips, swimming etc.

· A reminder that dog walking is not permitted on school grounds at any time for health and safety reasons.

· For many years children in 6th class have been wearing albs for Confirmation. This has been organised each year on a voluntary basis by local lady Jennifer Furlong. Jennifer is a past parent but is no longer available to do the job. We would like to sincerely thank her for all her help throughout the years.

We are looking for someone to take on the role on behalf of the parish.

The job involves coming to measure the children a number of weeks before Confirmation and assigning albs to each child. There are different size albs but on occasion a small temporary alteration may need to be made to the length of an alb. After the Confirmation the robes are collected by the school and returned to the organising person who arranges to have them dry cleaned.

The albs have proven to be very successful as they take pressure off parents on the day as children can wear their own clothes under the albs.

Please contact the school office on 045-401495 if you are in a position to help out with this position.
